My name is Taylor Rushton, I am a freshmern, I'm 18 and I'm from Columbus Ohio. Currently I am undecided for my major, but I intend on following the field of psychology. During my free time I enjoy hanging out with friends and being outside. I love long walks on the beach, romantic hill sides, and anything that has to do with the summer. I like sports, video games, TV, the Buckeyes, food, and being around others.
Even though I was unable to read over the weekend due to not having my book; I enjoyed the essay written about Frederick Douglass the most. This essay conveyed his struggles through segregation and the difficulties he had as a slave. Looking further into the facts of his life a few things struck me as odd, one being that he remarried a younger white woman, another is his approach to learning how to read. By convincing the slave masters wife to teach him the alphabet, I believe this expanded his knowledge enough that he direly wanted to receive more of an education. This drive for wanting to read caused him to steal literature from other white kids in his neighborhood.

ReplyDeleteHey Taylor I noticed that you are considering psychology as major. I'm a psych major and I highly recommend it to anyone who is decided it is a very interesting field to study. A class that I really enjoyed taking was 311, psych of motivation.
ReplyDeleteYou are always welcome to come visit me in Florida and I really think that Spring Break needs to happen. I love that our convo at Chipotle carried into class today. Who needs school when we have such wise conversations on our lunch breaks! Long walks on the beach are the best as well as swimming! And boogie boarding! I am in love with the Buckeyes as well, all saports. I really want to meet Aaron Craft and get a picture with him so if you can make this happen I would greatly appreciate it.
