The documentary Ain't Scared of Your Jails had a lot of information about what African-Americans had to go through when everything was segregated. Most of the information I had had found out from previous history classes. However, seeing actual people tell their own stories and experiences gives me a new way of looking at those facts.
The thing that struck me the most in Ain't Scared of Your Jails was when a (white) women said "I feel like it's violating my civil rights" when being interviewed. I was shocked at how people truly could not see how unfair and wrong it was that African-Americans were being treated this way. Not only that but, some felt that it violated their civil rights, like it was an inconvenience and African-Americans didn't deserve the same (equal) rights. When I heard that my jaw dropped. I couldn't believe that people thought that way and how twisted their thought process could be.
I also couldn't believe that people actually though that way. It's amazing and twisted as you said.
