Aint Scared

The episode "Aint Scared of Your Jails", from the film Eyes on the Prize, has a lot of informative history details. It has visualization of how African Americans in Nashville, Tennessee were very peaceful in their protests for equal rights. They used sit-ins and boycotts. What struck me most was how peaceful they were able to be. Protesters were so brave, determined not to be violent even though they knew they would be beaten or even killed in doing so. It was also interesting how respectful they were. One of the white protesters in the documentary explained how at one of the sit-ins the white waitresses kept dropping dishes but they tried not to laugh, "We thought laughing would be insulting,..we didn't want that."

  1. I agree with how brave the students were while they were being beat up, I don't know if there's any way I could let that happen to me. The part with the dishes was pretty funny to me too, the way they told the stories was funny.

  2. I really like how you mention the sit-ins and how they were so resilient to take action against the harmful hate crimes. The fact that they did non-violence the whole time is absolutely amazing.

  3. I also thought that it was very interesting how they kept the peace and did not revert to violence to solve their issues.
