  1. Paula Dean

This group had a very unique handout to go along with their presentation, putting one of Dean's recipes on it. It was pretty cool that Dean started a business off of just the $200 that she had. She took a huge risk, because if it wasn't successful, she would have been in major trouble. from Christian

  2. Only $200 dollars to start with, then made it so big that she sold over 8 million cookbooks- wow. You guy definitly proved she is living the image of the American dream. I found your handout to be nifty and defintly useful!

  3. Being diabetic myself I can feel for her. I don't think changing the way she cooks was a choice for her, she stays true to her roots. Backing the drug company instead of using her influence and asking America to change the way you cook is a big gamble. Eating comfort food can be enjoyed for time to time, but must be taken in moderation, like everything else.

  4. It was amazing to learn that she started her business with only $200. I was also shocked that she has agoraphobia. I loved the recipe you used for the handout, it was a great idea. Good job!

  5. I love Paula Deen! She is such a likable person on TV and I really enjoyed learning more about her. I had no idea that she had diabetes and I am happy she is working to find some kind of 'cure'. The video presented was very nice as well as the recipe on the handout. What a great idea!! I have actually been to her restaurant in Savannah, Georgia and let me tell you it is a very cool place! Thanks for a great presentation.

    1. Paula Deen! She is one funny girl. First off I had no idea she was married to the Jimmy Deen. Paula as an individual is such a likable and honest person. She seems really nice too. I had no idea that she had type 2 diabetes and the fact that she only had $200 to provide for her and her children. The video was very nice and the recipe made me very hungry :) The style of the power point was great. I enjoyed the pictures and it was just very bright. thanks guys. The one thing I also liked about her was she isn't afraid to be her. I remember watching her on the food network channel and she just screamed out heffer lol. Also, a couple years ago, my family and I were actually in Savannah and my mom and I got very excited to go meet Paula at her store/restaurant. When we got there, we were told that she had just walked out the door a couple minutes ago.:( Her sons were there to sign cook books, but we didn't have a cook book with us so we left and went to this taffy factory instead. That day will be know as the day that I almost, met Paula Deen..

  6. Like Twiggy, no matter what I eat I don't gain weight so paula's cooking works for me. I didn't know about her struggles earlier in her life, she really turned her life around for herself. I loved your hand out, bluberry muffins are amazing and I'm going to make some of her's as soon as I get some blueberries:)

  7. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!! I am so glad you gave us that recipe because I love baking and am so excited to get new recipes to try. And what better recipe than blueberry muffins. I learned alot that I did not know like that she is diabetic but I do wish she was changing her cooking style a little bit more to match the needs of those who are battling diabetes. She is definitely an icon in the cooking world and I do love that she is still alive and she has a southern accent. Good job on the presentation, you seemed very relaxed when speaking.

  8. I had always heard Paula Deen's name but never knew exactly who she was. After seeing the video you showed us, I got really hungry. My mom has actually used one of her recipes before in a cake and let me say, it was one of the greatest cakes she's ever made. Great job, unlike me you were able to present easily.

  11. I agree with Steven in saying it is amazing that she started her career with 200 dollars. I learned a lot about her and it was a smooth presentation with nothing repeated.

  12. I love watching Paula Deen on TV, so it was nice to know some more background information on her. I had no idea that she had such a rough past, and how she is truly inspiring to people to keep following their dreams no matter what obstacle is before them.
