The 1968 battle of Khe Sanh was one of the longest deadliest and most controversial battles in Vietnam. Khe Sanh is a village located near the Laotian border and south of the demilitarization zone, it seperated the north and south vietnam. By the middle of January some 6,000 Marines and Army troops occupied the Khe Sanh army base and all surroundig positions. U.S. Marine Corps helicopter units were deployed around Khe Sanh to
support operations by U.S. Special Forces and the Army of the Republic of
Vietnam.

Very interesting battle.
ReplyDelete"the longest, deadliest and most controversial battles in vietnam" and also the most pointless war in my opinion. never should've happened.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, that is a very high quality picture, I like it! Second, longest and deadliest battle, that's no fun.
ReplyDeleteUpon reading we took Khe Sanh in march of 1968 and abandoned it in April 1968. 354 Americans and over 15,000 NVA died for 2 months of occupation!
ReplyDeletethis was a very brutal war. lots of blood shed
DeleteThat's a ton of troops to be called in only for 2 months.
DeleteI had never heard of this battle from all of my research done on the Vietnam war. It's interesting that it was close to the demilitarization zone.
