Ain't Scared of Your Jails
This was a very interesting film. The part that struck me the most was how much will and determination they had. No matter what the stood up to show that they needed freedom. Even if it meant getting beat and being put in prison. It is crazy how anybody can have that much hatred and judge a race so much when they didn't do anything to deserve it. The fact that there was no reasoning made this even worse. Another thing that amazed me was how they rioted Jefferson Avenue and made businesses lose a lot of customers. I believe this drastically changed the situation in a good way. The video stated, "We filled Jefferson Avenue, as we walked by a store of white workers they didn't know what to do. There was a fear." This quote shows that white people were racist towards them but knew that there was no reason to be. When they rioted, they became scared.

Even though African Americans were peacefully protesting the whites were afraid because they knew how blacks were treated was wrong and they understood that they would be very angry about it. I think the white people who were not afraid were the true racists and they believed they shouldn't be that angry.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. Their determination and will was amazing through those times. I also completely agree that the fact that there was no reasoning made it worse. Thats the fact that amazes me the most.
