Andy WarholThis group did a real nice job giving their audience photographs of Warhol's pieces of art. I learned that Warhol created Pop Art which was completely against the norms of 50's style of traditional artwork. Christian
I found it interesting that you guys said that he wasn't like most post war artists; he painted to paint. Good point to point out. On style, I liked the handout of quotes and photographs, because it was unique and not boring to see.
I was going to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1987 when Andy Warhol died. He was very influential in the commercial art business even though he was considered a fine artist. I agree with the presenters he made art for its commercial value. He used what was popular to sell his ironic prints. Technicolor Monroe, using vivid colors with a iconic figure, it was going to sell for a million or totally flop. He gambled and won. It also helps if you know the right people.
Andy Warhol was one of my choices, I love his work. You guys did a great job presenting him. I loved when you told us he was openly gay and proud of it. I think that is great. I also liked learning how he died, I didn't know that. The handout with all the pictures and quotes was great, it helped me to get to know more of him. Good job!
I really enjoyed seeing Andy's artwork on the handout. It was very helpful to be able to see what kind of art he creates. The content of the presentation was also presented very nicely. I learned that Andy created the Campbell's soup label which I had no idea about before this presentation. I also cannot believe that he just decided one day to create it because he eats soup for lunch. That was a little funny to me. Great presentation.
I also like your hand out, you had good visual aid. I like his quote "the idea of waiting for something makes it more exciting", it is so true.
I found it interesting that he painted without any emotion or personality. I believe that his paintings were bright and somewhat random, which is something I did not know. Great presentaion and i like that way you used the powerpoint in your trachings. The handout was also a great visual.
Great job on this topic! I am sure it was not your first pick, but you showed great initiative and excitement when presenting in class. You spoke very clearly and intelligently. I hope you learned alot more than what you originally knew before this was assigned. Your handout was very effective and informative and I found it very interesting to learn that he designed the campbells soup labels. I never would have guessed. His influence on pop art in very interesting and Ido love his use of colors!
I agree that his paintings were very random but appealing at the same time. I think it's cool how even though he was homosexual and people resented, he wasn't impacted at all. He could be influential to a lot of people. Definitely a great job presenting with enthusiasm.
I thought it was cool that he wanted to be famous and didn't care what people people thought and was so successful. Nice job with the pictures and the page of quotes was interesting.
The color and the slides were good because it fit the presentation made it more eye friendly. I liked how you made it big that he didn't care what others thought.
