Laura K. Neff

Hello I am Laura Neff and am currently a sophomore in Freshman English. I am studying business and math, hoping to obtain a minor in event planning, and work as the treasurer of a company and event coordinator one day. Working as an event coordinator is so exciting to me because everyone is always happy when planning or attending a party and I want to work with happy people when I am older, not the pessimistic, Negative Nancy type. In my free time I enjoy adventuring and visiting my parents in Florida. I play Volleyball, and I love running 5K's and adventure races. I am a member of Sigma Alpha Pi Honorary Society on the OSU campus in Columbus, and am in the process of applying to Fisher College of Business.
I really enjoyed the Frederick Douglass piece that we talked about in class today because of how descriptive and vivid the scenes were. I could actually picture them and feel the pain that he must have been going through when I was reading. And on the flip side of that I could feel the strength and pride he must have felt after his battle with Covey. He was very smart to hide in the corn fields when he returned and wanted to avoid the beatings, and he struck me as a very brave man for writing something so controversial to the time period in which he published it.
